For those of you living in the local community, it will come as no surprise when we tell you that the new build continues to remain on schedule to open in October 2012.

During recent weeks, the building has rapidly become more and more a landmark in Wyke, with the striking design of the building rising from the ground to take a commanding position on the landscape at the site on Huddersfield Road.

The exciting project is now a tangible indication of the ambition the Academy has and is the perfect embodiment of Appleton's motto; 'Aspiration and Achievement in Wyke'!

From 6th July 2011, the community will be able to see the new Appleton Academy emerging on the horizon as more than 800 tonnes of steel arrives on the site off Huddersfield Road in preparation for the next stage of the project.  The site, some 11,000m2 in size, which has been a hub of activity for a number of months already, will begin to much more closely resemble that of a new school as internal structures are erected around which the state of the art new Academy will be built.

The building project has now entered an exciting new stage with the commencement of construction on the High Fernley site from Monday 21st March 2011.

The contractors appointed to the project are FMP, which is a joint venture of three successful construction companies: A Farrans, H&J Martin and Patton.  Each have a background in education building initiatives and will work closely with the local community throughout the duration of the project.
