Hoy House |
|
Our house icon is Chris Hoy, the British Olympic gold medalist. He was chosen as our icon because of his amazing feat of winning three gold medals at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
We would like to think that many of the individual qualities it takes to become an Olympic champion and the collective spirit of the Olympic Games are at the heart of the Ethos of Hoy House.
As a house we think it is important for everyone to be involved in the many activities that take place at Appleton. We believe that gaining qualifications is only part of school life, although an important one and we want you to experience new and exciting challenges, enjoying them and conquering them.
Fair play and respect is at the centre of the Olympic ideal and we like to think that we reflect this in Hoy House by respect. Respect to staff and students alike and by being fair to each other in all parts of school life.
Individually it takes determination, hard work, dedication, discipline and talent to become an Olympic champion. If each individual in Hoy House aspires to these qualities and applies the principles of respect and fairness to all we will all share and enjoy the success of Hoy House.
